Principal Biologist

Randi McCormick

Ms. McCormick founded McCormick Biological, Inc. (MBI) in 2001 with a small team, growing it to over 25 biologists and additional staff, with up to 65 during peak periods. With over 30 years of experience in biological surveys, monitoring, permitting, and regulatory coordination across California, she also develops educational programs and mentors aspiring biologists. She has led hundreds of surveys for species such as the San Joaquin kit fox and has served as an instructor for several Wildlife Society workshops. Currently, she oversees field surveys, project coordination, quality control, and agency communication. She holds a B.S. in Biology from CSU Bakersfield and studied engineering and geology at Texas A&M.

Senior Biologist

Ashleigh Pryor

Ms. Pryor began her career researching pesticide effects on mites and aphid pheromones while earning her B.S. in Biological Sciences from UC Davis, with a minor in entomology. She later gained field experience in the southern San Joaquin Valley and joined MBI in 2013. She now supervises field surveys and monitoring for oil and gas projects, serves as a field biologist and crew leader, and handles reporting and client communication. In 2018, she was authorized by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to work independently with federally listed vernal pool branchiopods under MBI’s permit. She also holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Science and Policy from Johns Hopkins University.

Christine Van Horn Job

Ms. Van Horn Job joined MBI in December 2018, bringing 20 years of wildlife biology experience. Previously, she worked with the California State University, Stanislaus Endangered Species Recovery Program, conducting research on threatened and endangered species such as the San Joaquin kit fox, giant kangaroo rat, and blunt-nosed leopard lizard. Her work included trapping, telemetry, remote camera monitoring, scat analysis, and behavioral assessments. At MBI, she manages projects and oversees field survey coordination. She holds a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

Erika Noel

Ms. Noel joined MBI in 2013 and has steadily advanced to her current role, where she oversees field surveys and monitoring for road, oil and gas, solar, and urban development projects in Kern County. She specializes in bat ecology, identification, and mitigation, serving as MBI’s lead for roost-assessment and emergence surveys. She also provides care for non-releasable bats through the California Living Museum. Ms. Noel holds a B.S. and M.S. in Biology from CSU Bakersfield, with her graduate research focused on Western red bat roosting ecology.

Associate Biologist

Blaine Grant

Mr. Grant earned a B.S. in Biology from CSU Bakersfield in 2012, gaining experience in animal identification and trapping. He joined MBI in 2013 as a field crew member supporting biological resource surveys in the southern San Joaquin Valley. He now assists with inventory and monitoring for oil and gas, linear, solar, and urban development projects.

Craig O’Neill

Mr. O’Neill joined MBI in December 2018 and supports biological inventory and monitoring for oil and gas, utility, solar, and urban development projects. He previously conducted wildlife modeling on the Western black-legged tick at UC Santa Barbara, led fuel reduction research for the Sierra Resource Conservation District, and volunteered on listed species research with the Center for Natural Lands Management and the Endangered Species Recovery Program. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from USC and a master’s in Environmental Science from UC Santa Barbara.

Staff Biologist

Megan McCormick

Ms. McCormick earned a B.S. in Biology from Humboldt State University in 2018 and joined MBI in early 2019. She previously gained field experience through seven seasons of blunt-nosed leopard lizard surveys (2011–2016, 2018), year-round work with MBI (2011–2012), and marbled murrelet surveys in Arcata (2017–2018). At MBI, she supports biological surveys and monitoring for oil and gas, linear, solar, and urban development projects, with a focus on species surveys including blunt-nosed leopard lizard, nesting birds, and San Joaquin kit fox.

Rainey Davis

Ms. Davis joined MBI in December 2018 and currently she works on a variety of oil and gas projects with a focus on biological resource compliance. She holds a B.S. in Biology from CSU Bakersfield and is federally and/or state permitted for species including the Giant kangaroo rat, San Joaquin antelope squirrel, and Temblor legless lizard.

Ms. Davis has been approved as a Designated Biologist for species such as the San Joaquin kit fox, Tipton kangaroo rat, and others. Ms. Davis supports fieldwork, regulatory coordination, and the QA/QC of technical reports and proposals, helping ensure both project success and environmental stewardship.
